The commander of Ethiopian trained Somali troops was killed today in a bomb explosion in southern outskirt of Mogadishu on Saturday eyewitnesses said.
The commander that is to say Ahmed Ali Atoyo had been a member of the Ethiopian trained troops those left from Afgoi district to Mogadishu.
He also was known to be loyal to the government of President Abdullahi Yusuf.
The blast was that happened at Calamada area believed to have been caused by a bomb buried on the edge of the road that the government convoys were passing.
Three other soldiers were also wounded in the explosion.
In this year, there has been a surge in attacks against Somali government and the presence of the Ethiopian troops in Somalia.
