Somalie: au moins cinq morts dans un attentat dans le sud

Au moins cinq personnes ont été tuées samedi dans l’explosion d’une bombe placée sur une route visant un responsable local dans la ville de Baidoa, dans le sud de la Somalie, ont rapporté des témoins et la police.

L’explosion s’est produite au passage du véhicule du procureur de Baidoa Hasan Moalim Ahmed. Trois membres des forces assurant sa sécurité ont été tués ainsi que deux civils, le procureur a été blessé, selon des témoins.

« Le véhicule du procureur a été complètement détruit par une bombe placée sur la route. J’ai vu trois gardes du corps et deux civils tués dans l’explosion, sept autres personnes, dont le procureur, ont été blessées », a indiqué l’un des témoins, Abdisalan Adan Yare.

Hasan Yake Doyow, un officier de police a confirmé l’attentat.

« La bombe a explosé au passage du véhicule du procureur et il y a eu des victimes. Le procureur fait partie des blessés, mais je ne sais pas combien il y eu de morts », a-t-il déclaré.

L’un des gardes du procureur a indiqué que ses blessures n’étaient pas graves.

Baidoa, à 250 km au sud de Mogadiscio, est le siège du Parlement du gouvernement de transition, mais des insurgés islamistes contrôlent les environs de la ville et attaquent quotidiennement les autorités gouvernementales et les troupes éthiopiennes venues les protéger. Ces violences ont fait au moins 8.000 morts depuis le début de l’année

The commissioner of Baidoa district has been seriously injured by roadside bomb went off. Bodyguards also died on Saturday according to eyewitnesses.

Eyewitnesses said that plumes of smoke rose near the central bank of the town when the vehicle that was carrying the commissioner Hassan Bikalo struck by the bomb blast.

Three of his bodyguards also died in the blast.

Islamist rebels have been blamed for the attack. Fighting between troops and rebels has worsened in recent months.

There has been no comment from the government officials on this incident.

Mr Bikole was rushed to main hospital in the where is undergoing surgery for severe head wounds, according to reports from the hospital in the town where he was taken.

« The commissioner was on his way to police station when his white Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, » eyewitness Mohamed Yasin said.

The windows of the vehicle were shattered and photos show the passenger side riddled with holes.

Roadside bomb are placed underground the ground. They can be detonated by remote control and the explosives can be directed. They are frequently used by the Islamists in Somali fighting against the Ethiopian backed government and the foreign forces in Somalia.

Police sealed off the scene of the attack.

The Islamists started attacks on the military forces last year after their administration fortces have been driven out by Ethiopian backed Somali troops.

Agencies say that At least 8,000 people have died since the conflict began in late 2006.

Firing rocket-propelled grenades and heavy submachine guns, armed tribal militiamen seized a police headquarter at the heart of the government’s stronghold in Baidoa on Friday night in a bold attack that witnesses said.

Eyewitnesses said that the attack happened following the government troops detained a businessman who was associated with bomb attacks in the town that caused that same tribe men regrouped to attack the police station, the ambush could not be immediately be verified by Somali officials.

The militiamen forcibly freed from the police station prison several prisoners including big traders.

Elsewhere two Somali soldiers have been killed in Elasha biyaha area of Afgoi district just outside of Somali capital on Friday night.

Witnesses told Shabelle that two armed men killed the two soldiers while they were onboard a vehicle that was passing in the locale.

The culprits eluded and the government forces have started trucking down them although no tangible progress they have made was reported.

Somalia’s interim government and its Ethiopian military backers are battling an insurgency in Mogadishu led by remnants of Islamist groupskicked out of the city more than a year ago.

Activists say fighting in Mogadishu killed more than 8,000 people last year and wounded 8,500. Ill-equipped African Union peacekeepers from Uganda and Burundi have failed to reduce the bloodshed.

Somalie : 3 tués après des explosions

Trois personnes ont été tuées et plusieurs autres blessées aujourd’hui dans des explosions dans la ville de Baidoa, dans le sud de la Somalie, ont indiqué des témoins

Des assaillants non identifiés ont lancé une grenade dans un marché bondé, tuant deux civils et blessant un policier, selon ces témoins. Un troisième civil a été tué au cours d’une seconde attaque à la grenade dans la ville, siège du Parlement somalien.

Ces attaques n’ont pas été revendiquées dans l’immédiat, mais des insurgés islamistes qui combattent le gouvernement somalien, les troupes éthiopiennes et des soldats de l’Union africaine (UA) ont déjà revendiqué des attaques de ce type.
