Hawiye Traditional Council rebuked Saturday Al-shabaab Insurgents and warned them not to attack the African Union troops in Mogadishu known as AMISOM.

“The fighting which we used to support is over. We do not need any other fighting in the capital, we are the people who have been harassed and jailed for the sake of you,” Ahmed Dirie Ali, the spokesman of the Council told Radio Shabelle exclusively, referring to the Al-Shabaab Insurgent group.

Al-shabaab Islamist group vowed Saturday to keep on fighting and denounced clerics who called for the Islamist insurgents to support the peace and stop fighting.

Its spokesman, Sheik Mukhtar Robow Abu Mansoor said earlier they will target AMISOM bases in Mogadishu.

“The Somali president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed resigned and the Ethiopian troops ended their occupation. There are peace talks going on, so we do not need war we want peace,” Mr. Dirie said.

“Uganda and Burundi are not our enemies they are here to support us, they did not come to occupy us, so we will not tolerate any one who wants to fight,” he added.

Ahmed Dirie says they supported the fighting against the Ethiopian troops but now they have withdrawn and there is no need to fight.
