Guelleh, Blair Congratulate Premier On Re-Election

The President of the Republic of Djibouti Smael Omar Guelleh and British Prime Minister Tony Blair congratulated Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on his re-election to serve for third term in office.

In his letter of felicitation, President Guelleh expressed his deep desire to further strengthen the long-standing relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Blair expressed his happiness over the re-election of Meles as Prime Minister as well as the peaceful and democratic establishment of federal and state governments in Ethiopia.

The Office of the Prime Minister told ENA that in his letter of felicitation, Prime Minister Blair congratulated the Ethiopian government and people over the victory of EPRDF to form federal and state governments as well as the re-election of Meles as Prime Minister.

Blair also said a situation has to be created to enable to consider the parliamentary code of conduct endorsed by the previous parliament in comparison with that of other countries that have developed democratic system.

Blair urged opposition political parties that boycotted the parliament to join the parliament and said his government supports re-commencement of the dialogue between the EPRDF and opposition political parties.
