Mogadishu 27, July.07 ( Sh.M.Network)- At least two persons were killed and a number of other people were wounded in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, last night after suspected Islamist insurgents hurled grenades at two small restaurants in north of the capital.
Witnesses said that there were no Ethiopian or Somali troops in the area when the insurgents’ bomb attacks occurred. “Unknown gunmen threw two grenades at small restaurants next to each other. Two people dining there were killed in the blasts,” said Haji Ali, a witness.
In a similar incident, the rebels also attacked a military base of the government troops in Hodan district, south of the capital, last night. Residents reported that they could hear a bomb explosion and exchanges of gunfire.
It is not clear if there were any casualties in the incident.
Three civilians have also been wounded in Mogadishu’s Medina district last night after unknown gunmen opened fire at some people sitting outside their home. Witnesses said the wounded have been rushed to a hospital as one of the victims died of hemorrhage in the way.
It is not yet apparent the motive behind the civilian targeting.
