At least ten government soldiers have been killed and dozens injured in fresh clashes with armed insurgents in southern Somalia.
Insurgents attacked a military convoy in Owdhegle neighborhood in Lower Shabelle region on Saturday, killing eight soldiers and injuring several others, a Press TV correspondent in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, reported.
In a separate incident, heavy explosions in the Dharkenley district in south Mogadishu killed at least two soldiers and wounded six others.
The conflict-torn country has been ruled by an interim government since 1991, backed by Ethiopian forces. Thousands of people, including civilians have been killed and many more displaced as a result of the unrest.
