The Kenyan government has closed its border with Somalia to stop at least 2000 civilians of the war-torn country from entering Kenya.

The Kenyan soldiers stopped the people in the border town of Harhar on Tuesday, Press TV correspondent reported.

The civilians who are fleeing war in Somalia are not settled for about five weeks.

Kenya has alleged that Somali civilians smuggle weapons into the country.

In the latest clashes in the capital Mogadishu more than 28 civilians were killed after Ethiopian forces began shelling the city stadium and the surrounding districts.

About 29 houses were also flattened by heavy mortar shells on Tuesday.

According to rights groups, some 6,000 civilians were reported killed and more than 600,000 forced to flee their homes in the Somali capital last year.
