His name is Ilyas Houssien Jibah and he was arrested in March of this
year under false pretenses and trumped up charges in the Republic of
Djibouti with numerous friends by the dictatorial regime of Ismael
Omar Guelleh.

Mr Jibah a political asylee and longtime resident of
Chicago, Illinois went back to his native country of Djibouti and
worked for a contractor at the U.S. Military base, Camp Lemonier.

He
became an active and vocal member of a local group known as ARCHE
with childhood friend Barreh Ahmed. They organized grassroots
opposition and rallies against human rights violations by the regime.

On March of this year, they were arrested, tortured and denied legal
and medical care by the secret police locally known as the SDS. Mr
Jibah and his friends are held at the notorious prison camp of Gabode
where numerous political prisoners have been tortured and killed over
the years.

Few days later, 54 years old Mahdi Ahmed Abdillahi, a
founding member of the opposition party PND (Parti National
Democratique) was arrested on March 22nd, accused of receiving a
telephone call from exiled business man Abdourahman M.M. Boreh whom
the presidential couple have recently fallen out of favor.

Mr Mahdi
like his fellow compatriots Mr Jibax and Mr Ahmed was thrown in Gabode
where he was tortured and killed by the regime agents.

Unlike Mr Mahdi
Mr Jibax and his friends are still alive and are in desperate need of
medical, psychological and legal help.

We call the International Community, especialy the United States who
supports the Dictatorial Regime of Ismael Omar Guelleh in the name of
the « War on Terror  » to intervene on behalf of Mr Jibah and condemn
these Human Rights Violations in Djibouti.

We also call on Amnesty
International to take action and pressure the United Nations Security
Council who voted recently for a seat at the U.N. commission on Human
Rights for the Regime of Ismael Omar Guelleh ironically.

The ARDHD should contact the LDDH to support and update us about the conditions of these brave Prisoners of Conscience
