The Afar sultan’s sons come to visit DJIBOUTI

The Djibouti authorities want to persuade the sons of Ali Mirah, the Sultan of Awsa, to help them resist against Eritrea and fight the Djibouti FRUD rebels.

Invited by the Djibouti authorities, Hanfareh Ali Mirah, the son of the Afar Sultan of Awsa in Ethiopa, went to Djibouti twice, in September and October 2009, after not having set foot there for many years.

On 9 September the Djibouti government even issued him a diplomatic passport so that he could go to Riyadh to visit his sick father. His brother Omar who lives in exile in the United Kingdom went to Djibouti around the same time.

After a stay in Riyadh, the two brothers went back to Djibouti again in the second half of October, where the local authorities made them separate offers to cooperate. Hanfareh may even have been received by President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh. Afterwards, they may have had discussions with the chief of security,

Hassan Saïd who may have suggested recruiting Afars from Awsa. The latter would then be trained and armed so that they could defend Djibouti against Eritrea and bring the FRUD Afar rebels in northern Djibouti to heel.

The third son of the Sultan of Awsa, Habib Ali Mirah, who lives in Ethiopia, also went to Djibouti to meet with his brother Omar. While Habib and Omar appear to have categorically rejected the Djibouti authorities’ proposal, Hanfareh may not have been totally opposed to the idea, at least to begin with.

He did subsequently take on a more cautious stance, following the advice of his partisans. He is believed to have declared to the Djibouti Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, whom he met in Cairo on 25 October, that he would prefer to play a role of mediator between President IOG an the armed FRUD.

Les fils du sultan Afar, qui viennent visiter DJIBOUTI

Les autorités de Djibouti veulent persuader les fils d’Ali Mirah, le sultan de AWSA, pour les aider à résister contre l’Érythrée et de combattre les rebelles du FRUD à Djibouti.

Invité par les autorités de Djibouti, Hanfareh Ali Mirah, le fils du sultan de l’Afar en Ethiopie en ANEPA, s’est rendu à Djibouti deux fois, en Septembre et Octobre 2009, après n’avoir pas mis les pieds depuis des années. Le 9 Septembre Djibouti le gouvernement, même lui a délivré un passeport diplomatique, afin qu’il puisse aller à Riyad pour rendre visite à son père malade.

Son frère Omar, qui vit en exil au Royaume-Uni est allé à Djibouti dans le même temps. Après un séjour à Riyad, les deux frères rentra à Djibouti à nouveau dans la seconde moitié de Octobre, où les autorités ont fait leur offre distincte de coopérer. Hanfareh mai même avoir été reçu par le Président Ismaïl Omar Guelleh. Ensuite, ils mai ont eu des discussions avec le chef de la sécurité, Hassan Saïd mai qui ont suggéré de recruter des Afars ANEPA. Celle-ci pourrait être formés et armés pour qu’ils puissent défendre contre l’Érythrée, Djibouti et amener les rebelles du FRUD Afar dans le nord de Djibouti à talon.

Le troisième fils du sultan de ANEPA, Habib Ali Mirah, qui vit en Éthiopie, est également allé à Djibouti pour y rencontrer son frère Omar. Alors que Habib et Omar semblent avoir rejeté catégoriquement la proposition des autorités de Djibouti, Hanfareh mai ne pas avoir été totalement opposée à l’idée, du moins pour commencer.

Il ne prit par la suite sur une position plus prudente, en suivant les conseils de ses partisans. Il est soupçonné d’avoir déclaré au ministre des Affaires étrangères de Djibouti, M. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, qu’il a rencontré au Caire le 25 Octobre, qu’il préfère jouer un rôle de médiateur entre le président IOG une FRUD armées
