A court in Baladwayne town sentenced to death by executing a man accused of killing a commander of the Islamic Courts Union and another Islamist fighter in Baladweyne on Tuesday, about 300 kilometrs north of the capital.
The murderer has been in a jail for the last three days.
The execution was carried out by a man from the bereaved families.
The people in Baladweyne have welcomed the execution and described as the only step that can bring peace in the town.
It is the first step that the Islamic Courts Union carries out since they took control of the town when Ethiopian troops withdraw from Hiran region.
