Dear Ambassadors and Representatives:

As you are following, the political, security and the humanitarian crisis in Somalia has been deteriorating
fast, and unless the necessary measures are taken immediately, the situation will be irreversible and
most likely affect the entire region.

The brutality and the flagrant abuses of human rights in Somalia by the Ethiopian troops and the malitias of
the Transitional Federal Government (TFG)is beyond the imagination of any human-being, and it is sad that the entire world seems to be silent about it!!

The Ethiopian troops and the TFG malitias have been using destructive weapons and all types of violence
against the people of Somalia, particularly in Mogadishu in an attempt to reduce the support base of
the resistance against the Ethiopian occupation.

As a result, many people, including children, women, and the elderly have been killed. Many others have
been maimed, and over one million people have been forced to flee their homes and their properties have
been looted by the Ethiopian troops and their supporting TFG malitias led by some of the NOTORIOUS
SOMALI WARLORDS.

There are daily mass arrests and increasing torture centers throughout the country and many people have
mysteriously been disappearing!!

The Ethiopian regime and TFG have planned strategies to starve the Somali people and rob their properties.
The people are being denied their basic rights to LIFE, LIBERTY, and PROPERTIES.

The Ethiopian troops and TFG have LEVIED an usually high « TAX » on all imports, including essential goods.
This has caused a storm of protest from the business community in which many of them have decided to
suspend their business activities. This has created acute shortages of essential goods and unnecessary
economic bottle-necks in Mogadishu and its immediate environs. This is an intentional mass starvation
designed by the Ethiopian regime and TFG.

The Ethiopian troops and the TFG have IMPOSED A SIEGE on Bakara Market, the biggest market in Mogadishu. The operations of the market has been stopped and the troops shoot anyone they see. The troops have been forcing the business people out of their shops and offices and continue LOOTING eveything valuable, such as cash, gold, mobile phones, and so on. The troops use explosives to blow-up the doors of businesses and kill business people who refuse to surrender the keys to them.

To collect extra cash, the troops frequnetly raid homes in the middle of the night, and load their trucks with everything that they can lay their hands on. Additionally, the troops abduct and arrest those
residents suspected of having the financial means to pay ransom which can range from $500 to $30,000 (US
dollars) per person depending on the willingness and the financial ability of the individual!!

Sometimes, prisoners who pay ransom are re-arrested within few hours to pay new ransom again to be
released!!

To verify the above brutalities, institutions and/or nations are urged to send impartial investigators to Mogadishu.

In conclusion, we kindly request you to do what you can to help the Somali people end the Ethiopian
occupation and human rights abuses in Somalia.
