Mogadishu 25, July.07 ( Sh.M.Network)- Ethiopian troops accompanied by Somali forces raided Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, on Wednesday, taking out a number of people including the a patient and the hospital staff .
Witnesses said the troops supported by four battlewagons made a force entry in to the hospital patient rooms and the operating room asking the names of the wounded people in the hospital.
One of the hospital employees, who asked to remain anonymous because he was afraid of reprisal, told Shabelle that the troops extracted one wounded man who was only admitted to the hospital very recently, one of the staff and three guards.
« The whole people operating in the hospital were frightened and horrified as the soldiers were entering everywhere of the hospital. They had one long list and they asked the names of at least 20 individuals. They forcefully took the hospital ambulance, » the employer said.
In a similar incident the Ethiopian troops have extracted five wounded patients and their relatives of a privately owned hospital in Wardhigley neighborhood, south of the capital, Mogadishu, on July 22.
Witnesses told Shabelle that they saw ten people, five patients and five family members, taken out by the Ethiopian troops, along with Somali forces.
A witness, who only gave his name as Hussein told Shabelle that he was standing near the hospital where he saw a contingent of Ethiopian troops and Somalis entering the hospital.
« They have taken out ten people, five of them showed wounds, » he said.
He pointed out that some of the troops stood on guard while others made their way into the hospital.
« I asked one of the Somali soldiers why those people were taken out and he told me that they were among the insurgents that launched a heavy attack on the government troops in Bakara market two nights before, » he said.
The incident happens as a grenade explosion targeting an Ethiopian convoy occurs around Arafat hospital, north of Mogadishu, on Wednesday. One person was killed and two others were wounded after the Ethiopian troops opened fire indiscriminately.
