A roadside bomb explosion has rocked Somalia’s conflict-torn capital Mogadishu, killing and injuring 10 government soldiers.
The blast was aimed at a military convoy carrying 16 Somali soldiers towards Aden Adde International airport, south of Mogadishu, Press TV correspondent reported on Monday.
Meanwhile, Somali federal soldiers reportedly gunned down a taxi driver and seized his car, as the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) peacekeepers stood watch.
There are some 1,600 Ugandan troops, enlisted with the AMISOM, operating in Mogadishu.
The streets of Mogadishu are the scene of daily clashes between opposition forces and Somali government forces, backed by Ethiopian troops.
Somalia has been plagued by almost uninterrupted civil unrest since the 1991 ouster of former president Mohamed Siad Barre.
