The arrests were allegedly ordered by the two regions’ Intelligence Services in an attempt to find those behind the October terror attacks.

Among the arrested is the head of the Elman Human Rights group, who was captured six days ago in Hargeysa, capital of Somaliland, sources say.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for any of the five massive blasts which rocked the two relatively calm regions on October 29, and left some 23 people killed.

The bomb explosions came shortly the Western-backed transitional government decided to keep foreign forces in Somalia, scraping peace talks with the opposition.
